The Centennial officially closed at the Tuesday, October 21 meeting of the City Council — coincidentally, 100 years to the date of the official incorporation of the City.

During the 100-minute meeting, the City Council read aloud the minutes of the first meeting of the Walnut Creek Board of Trustees from October 1914, received congratulations from numerous County and State officials, opened a time capsule that was sealed in 1999, revealed a plaque listing the names of the former Walnut Creek mayors, and sealed a new time capsule, which will be opened in 2064. View the evening’s photos.
